Scooter lives!

There is an interesting undercurrent in the Scooter Libby story. President Bush commuted Libby’s prison sentence on charges of perjury and obstruction. There are a million little nagging details on this. For instance Libby was not the only one to leak Valerie Plame’s CIA status, but he was the first.

Our boy Scooter told New York Times reporter Judith Miller, who never published it but went to jail anyway. Scotter just let her twist slowly in the breeze while he deceived prosecutors and kept the heat off his boss, Vice President Dick Cheney. The Bush commutation is purely political and designed to kill any further investigations of the White House.

It was a clever scheme except that it has set off the mother of all internet bombs. It seems like every blog and news feed is full of analysis. This story was headed south with far too much complexity for the average Joe.

Now, thanks to the wizard of Pennsylvania Avenue, the good guys, that would be us, are back in business. It has even forced White House press secretary Tony Snow to admit that the Bush team is no more ethical than its’ predecessors. The administration is totally beyond belief. They managed to beat a dead horse back to life.
