Little Rock School District will face new scrutiny

Before checking out for the evening, let me draw your attention to an interview conducted on my radio show earlier today with State Senator Shane Broadway of Benton. We talked about the failure of Benton voters to pass a millage to provide needed improvements to school facilities. Those improvements are required by state law and we had a somewhat vague conversation about what leverage the state education department might have. Then the topic turned to the Little Rock School District. Broadway allowed that, since the LRSD is now out from under federal court supervision, this is a perfect time for the state to begin more careful monitoring and regulation of the troubled district. The entire segment is only 16 minutes long and I think it reflects the shape of things to come. it's in the free "on demand" audio section of my home page, lyncho.com.
