Latest on the Janie Ward case

An representing the family of Janie Ward, the girl from Marshall, Arkansas who died under suspicious circumstances in 1989, has called upon special prosecutor Tim Williamson to withdraw from the case. Citing 17 months with no results, Jerry Sallings of the Wright Lindsey and Jennings Law Firm has requested that Williamson also make the $10,000 he received from the governor’s emergency fund at the time of his appointment in December 20004 available to cover the costs of the family’s ongoing investigation. Stallings emphasized that these funds would not be used for legal fees. Stallings forwarded a copy of his letter to Governor Huckabee, who originally appointed Williamson.
