The Nona Dirksmeyer File

Court TV's site has a lengthy piece on the investigation into Nona Dirksmeyer's killing. Although it has been more than three months, and Russellville authorities seemed very close to an arrest once, I continue to believe that caution and professionalism is the best course for prosecutors. Once an arrest is made, the clock begins to tick and there is only one year before a trial must begin. Let me add that it is remotely possible that a defendant in this case might just demand a speedy trial, which, if I correctly understand the law, moves a trial up to 90 days of filing.

In the courtroom there are no "slam-dunks/" The accused is still presumed innocent until proven guilty.
