Faulkner County Foxes Gaurd Henhouses

The Quorum Court has certainly circled the wagons in a valiant effort to protect its' own. You wouldn't want anybody to be held responsible for misappropriating upwards of 30 grand in taxpayer money?

Today's Log Cabin Democrat has the story of a shameful meeting at which county officials just passed the buck around one more time. It makes Little Rock city government look honest.

Sadly, it also appears that the local newspaper is underplaying the seriousness of the offenses committed by a number of individuals in the Sheriff’s Department. The Saturday Democrat Gazette (for which a subscription is required for the online edition) did a complete story and the scope of the allegations is substantial.

But nobody was suspended. No disciplinary actions have been begun. The prosecutor’s office seemed paralyzed, although if Sheriff Montgomery had appeared in a Speedo H. G. Foster could have probably done something.

Comments:
But didn't you know that Marty Montgomery is one of those good ole boys who never meant any harm?

We have been on this case since the very beginning when JP Blankenship brought up the issue of a tuition payment last December. At first Montgomery said he authorized a clerk to pay his personal tuition while he was out of town then changed his story to I paid it with the wrong credit card.

In Prosecutor Tabor's letter to District Judge he said, "There were a number of other charges in which the Sheriff charged clearly personal expenditure on the Department Credit card and then made reimbursement for those expenses" But Tabor still claims there is not enough probable cause in this case even though this practice in itself is a violation of constitutional law.

The worse part about this is that Montgomery readily admits that he has done these very things throughout his nine years in office. Who knows how much money was really misspent. The people of Faulkner County need a full ASP investigation that leads to the removal of Montgomery from office and restitution for the money he misappropriated. Anything less is an insult to the people of this county.

The District Judges, Prosecuting Attorneys, County Judge, and Quorum Court members be advised, the voters are watching. . .
