Rod Bryan for Governor

The candidate has a clever web page.

After almost 23 years of interviewing Arkansas politicians, I can say that Rod is one of the smartest. He is blessed with brains and that may get in the way of political savvy. He gives lengthy and thoughtful answers. He's for real and that will carry him a long way. Still, you have to believe that Asa Hutchinson would shred him.

That meeting, if it ever happened, would be very entertaining. Bryan has no use for Asa.

He's handsome, overly smart, owns his own business, and believes in a woman's right to chose without going off the deep end with the feminists. He's a Presbyterian. Rod's minister marched at Selma. He is also an environmentalist.

About his band, a listener writes, "Ho-Hum is one of the best music acts to ever come out of Arkansas--including Cash, Al Greene, et al. Beautiful songs, gorgeous sound."

The complete interview is in the WAI Radio archive, which is linked in the left column.

Comments:
Funny when I met him, he gave me a campaign card from the back of a COORS Light Beer box. He reminds me of UNCLE Mac MacKrell, Monroe Schwarzlose, or a Joe Holmes like candidate for Governor.

That's because the campaign materials are all made on recycled materials that volunteers bring in. The message is the medium. Take a look at how much it costs the state of Arkansas just to provide name cards for every state so and so. It's amazing. Something this simple could save thousands.

Theres a reason why they use what they use....because it's professional looking, not something from a third grade outfit. And most candidates I know, at least the Democrats, use recycled paper.

I want a Governor who is serious on how he does things! I want someone who is a professional.

I want a governor who rather than saying what he believes, does it. For instance, one of Bryan's main campaign directives is to cut waste in government. We spend tens of thousands on printing name cards for state fat cats. This is just a simple way to put this policy into action. I don't agree with everything he said on the program, but I do respect his initiative. Doesn't matter, he's going to shave just enough off of ole' Beebe to make the difference!

I know several Republicans who jive with Rod's platform. Don't go thinking he's a spoiler for Beebe. As far as his campaign cards go, a man who puts himself out there with next to no budget, gaining support over the weeks and building his campaign funds based on that gradual support is to be commended and cheered. This guy Bryan is, like Pat Lynch said, the real deal. I only hope Arkansans will appreciate his courage, good sense, and knowledge of the issues that will matter most to AR. We'll see...

funny, rod at least thought asa had a clue; even though their views were way apart. mike, he could not detect intelligent life behind the smile.
