Lunatic right-wing nutcase spam of the day

This is a doozey. Here is a bit of the e-mail that occasionally slips through. Included is this blasphemous supposed depiction of the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, Jesus Christ. I am posting the picture for informational purposes only.

I'll bet this was a surprise to NBC.

NBC POLL

Do you believe in God?

NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest
Number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the
Percentage was the same as this:

86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance
14% against

That is a pretty 'commanding' public response.

I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't .

Now it is your turn ! . .. It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God.
Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such
A mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having
God in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Why is the world catering to this 14%?

AMEN!

If you agree, pass this on , if not, simply delete .

In God We Trust

Why would anybody at NBC be surprised? Almost everybody I know believes in God. I belive in God, even a God who hears and answers prayers.

If it is so very important that we keep the motto on the money, which makes no difference to me, when do you think we might actually start trusting in God?

Considering that there is a commandment (one of the big ten) that EXPLICITLY FORBIDS visual depictions of the Deity, why don't right wing political religious hobbyists OBEY that direct order? Answer, the God they believe in is powerless to punish them for breaking his divine law. Their God only corrects gays and Democrats.

When the real Jesus returns, he won't look anything like the purported effeminate image proposed by the spamming conservatives, and he knows where they live.

Not sure that command is in my Bible.

Happy to help out, but you might want to get a new Bible. Let's start at Deuteronomy 4:15.

“Therefore watch yourselves very carefully. Since you saw no form on the day that the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire,
Deu 4:16
“beware lest you act corruptly by making a carved image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
Deu 4:17
“the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air,
Deu 4:18
“the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth.
Deu 4:19
“And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.
Deu 4:20
“But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be a people of his own inheritance, as you are this day.
Deu 4:21
“Furthermore, the Lord was angry with me because of you, and he swore that I should not cross the Jordan, and that I should not enter the good land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance.
Deu 4:22
“For I must die in this land; I must not go over the Jordan. But you shall go over and take possession of that good land.
Deu 4:23
“Take care, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and make a carved image, the form of anything that the Lord your God has forbidden you.
Deu 4:24
“For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Have a nice day.

EXPLICITLY FORBIDS visual depictions of the Deity

Not there in your version or mine. The prohibition is images of created beings, in the air, on the earth or in the waters.

The Hebrew Bible, which Christians call the "Old Testament," is the record of God's dealings with his covenant people the Jews, plus the Jewish oral traditions of God's earlier involvement with pre-Jewish humankind from Creation to Abraham.

The Mosaic Law was never intended for non-Jews living outside Israel. Its universal and permanent principles are all fulfilled in Jesus Christ, as the Book of Hebrews illustrates. Salvation comes, not by our keeping any set of laws, but by relying on Jesus' atoning work in our stead, as Romans and Galatians point out. The Old Testament system did establish fundamental justice and morality in a primitive world, and highlighted human sin and the common need for redemption. It demonstrated both the goodness and the severity of God and his rule over the nations. And it preserved the people of Israel definably intact for a millennium-and-a-half until the coming of Jesus Christ the Jewish Messiah and Savior of the world.

I was beginning to think I was the only one reading your blogs. At least now I know you do. :-)

I enjoy your work.

Of course, you are correct that we are not saved by keeping the law.

Knowing the law helps us know the mind of God, but it does not save us at all.

thanks,
Pat

Shannon is right on target! ...I've never been to this blog, but found it while clicking away on the net.
